BlueStacks has launched a Mac version of their Android App Player which enables Mac users to now load and use Android applications on their OS X systems.

The BlueStacks Android App Player has been available for Windows since March, but has now made the jump to Mac systems offering the chance to load and use 400,000 Android Apps.

Within the initial release BlueStacks have included a number of apps from their developer partners, such as HandyGames, Creative Mobile and Pulse. BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma explained:

“Our PC version took off a lot faster than we had planned for. People are spending a lot of time on their smartphones and want the same experience on all devices.”-” By bringing Android Apps to Mac we are breaking open the Apple ecosystem, which has traditionally been closed. Also, Android is struggling because of a lack of tablet applications. Developers now have an incentive to build hi-‐res apps to work on the resolutions like retina displays on the new mac for example.”

The new BlueStacks Android App Player for Mac OS X systems is now available to download from the BlueStacks website.

Apple has finally closed down its MobileMe service, which has now been replaced by Apple’s new iCloud service, although if you haven’t migrated your data yet you will still be able to move it for a limited time.

Apple’s new iCloud service has now taken over from MobileMe, although it doesn’t offer everything that MobileMe used to, you will no longer have access to iDisk, iWeb and the gallery

Personally I think Apple has missed a bit of a trick with their new iCloud service, I used to use MobileMe to store a backup of all my photos, but as iCloud’s photo stream service is limited I have now switched to another service to backup my photos to.

If you still haven’t moved all your data away from Apple’s iCloud, you still ahve a short period of time to move it, you can find out more details over at MobileMe.

Apple announced the new MacBook Pro last month which was Apple’s first Mac to come with a Retina display, one thing that Apple didn’t announce was any new iMacs, which has led to speculation that new models will be announced later in the year.

Now according to a recent report by Digitimes, who are citing Apple’s ‘upstream supply chain sources’, we can apparently expect a new iMac with a Retina display to launch around October of this year.

But this is just a rumor at the moment, although we suspect Apple does have some new iMacs in the works, when they will launch them is anyone’s guess.

As soon as we get some more information on when Apple intends to update its iMac range of computers we will let you guys know.
